Nurse'Heart

Aliens & Sprained Neck

Good evening, my dear readers,

I sprained my neck this morning and woke up in what is honestly some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I could barely move the entire day without crying, it was that bad.

By the evening, it eased slightly. I could stand a little, but I still couldn’t move my neck properly. Then my dad came into my room and sat down, and things took a turn.

He started talking about a YouTube video he had watched, claiming the US government had released files proving aliens have been on Earth far longer than we thought, and somehow that everything I’m learning in nursing is wrong because of it. Apparently, an hour-long video outweighs actual medical education.

In nursing, we’re taught to build healthcare plans around the patient, their beliefs, values, and perspectives. If a patient believes aliens created them, that’s not something I’m there to argue against. My role is to make sure they’re safe, supported, and healthy.

That conversation turned into an argument, and I ended up getting kicked out. Honestly, that part doesn’t even surprise me anymore.

What got to me more was hearing him complain about me afterwards, calling me self-centered and saying my life is easier than his. This is coming from someone who doesn’t work, lost his job after failing a drug test, and is about to lose his house.

But somehow, I’m the self-centered one for defending my education and career over a YouTube video.
