Seafood
Good morning, dearest patients!
Today, I was reluctantly dragged out for a family lunch to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday. Honestly, I wasn’t keen on going—our relationship is strained, and I don’t have many good memories of her. She doesn’t like me much either, so we barely have contact unless absolutely necessary.
As expected, the lunch was a bit of a challenge. I arrived late because of my Uber, only to find out the restaurant was a seafood bar—my grandmother’s favourite place. Unfortunately, I’m severely allergic to seafood, and she’s convinced I’m lying about it. She even once tried to poison me and then got upset when I fell seriously ill.
Scanning the menu, everything was seafood except for one item: a Greek salad. I actually like Greek salad, so I thought I’d be okay. But this one was… disgusting. The smell of seafood alone makes me nauseous, and with my family happily digging into their dishes, I ended up feeling so sick I had to hide in the bathroom for a while.
Even though my family knows how badly seafood affects me, they still dragged me around the place, which made things worse. When I finally got home, I passed out for a couple of hours. After waking up, I managed to finish one of my games. I’ve been trying to eat more lately, so I had dinner and half a donut (though I’m not a fan of donuts—they’re too sweet for me).
Sorry for the vent! It’s just been a draining day. I know I should be grateful—to be able to afford lunch out, to have family to share it with, and especially to my dear friend who talked me through the whole ordeal.
